TV breaks for all...

So my life has been insane the last week or so.. and it isn't stopping anytime soon, so sorry for the lack of posts. I have about 20 hours of TV to catch up on.

Props to Nickelodeon for celebrating 'National Get Outside and Play Day' on Friday. The suspended all programming between noon and 3pm!

9.25.2008

No more Gossip... please

So I already declared that I was officially giving up on Gossip Girl (here is the proof), but everyone came up to me this week and said, "Danielle, before you give up on it, you have got to watch the newest episode!"

So I did.

And I was not impressed.

I do not like Serena being a bitchy, queen bee. I just don't believe that a person can go from being a really nice person to such a bitch in one night. And I don't buy that her and Dan are done. They obviously still like each other and are just acting like stupid children playing games with each other. You know that eventually they will get back together. And, oh surprise surprise, Nate is mad at Vanessa again (big departure from the Vanessa being mad at Nate storyline). And Blair and Chuck's bantering is getting old.

Oh and speaking of old, Rufus and Lilly? Please...

I'm done.

Emmy madness

My week is insane and I am missing a lot of TV. I need some catch up time. But here are some Emmy thoughts..

With the exception of the million John Adams wins and one Pushing Daisies directorial nod, I didn't really like any of the winners. Not enough love for Pushing Daisies and Dexter, the two most original shows on television right now. Great job, Emmy pickers.

edge of my seat... watching Greek?

Yes, that is right. This week's episode of Greek had me on the edge of my seat at the end. Casey and Max forever! Soooo adorable.

I  just love Max. His only flaw is that he isn't the typical 'frat' guy. ZBZ is obviously a huge part of Casey's life, and it will probably be tough for her to be with a guy who doesn't understand that. I predict lots of fights on this subject in the future, but I hope they work it out and stay together! Max is just what Casey needs! Cappie and Evan step aside...

Giving up on Gossip

And I am not the only one. For some reason, I just do not care what Gossip Girl has to say anymore, and I know a lot of other people who feel the same way. Yes, I love the sassy comments. Yes, I love the steamy scenes. Yes, I love the clothes. But the storylines? Not so much.

How many times will Serena and Dan break up and get back together over the same stupid fight. She's rich. He's not. You like each other. End of story. Who cares! And Blair and Chuck? Ick. The only way for them to have some original stories is for them to introduce random characters that will create some drama and peace out (cough cough Georgina).

I give up. Who's with me?

The Island is coming!

Get your swim trunks on and get in gear- The Island premieres Wednesday night!

My thoughts on the cast:
Abram: a true Challenger, he was kicked off the last one he did. This guy is known for his yelling, violence, and hookups in showers...
Ashli: one of the Sydney rookies. She is whiney.
Cohutta: another Sydney rookie. He might do well, but like good guy Ace, he may be kicked off early...
Colie: Last year's winner as 'Biggest Playa', lets see who the 'make out slut' hooks up with this time.
Dan: Missouri boy. Military boy. Rare Road Rules alum. I hope he goes far!
Dave: this little pitbull is coming straight from Hollywood. He has a temper (i.e. anger management classes last season?)
Derrick: another Challenger vet, he took home the big prize on Inferno III
Dunbar: major anger issues. I will not be surprised if someone (or something) gets majorly mucked up by this guy this season.
Ev: yikes. she could kill me.
Jenn: she's got a lot of fight in her and was sent home early on the last challenge.
Johanna: no Wes on this challenge, or back in the real world, so we will see if the single gal makes waves on this season.
Johnny: Challenge vet, but known more for partying than playing.
KellyAnne: another Sydney alum, and Cohutta's former squeeze in Aussie, will the two reunite on this  island?
Kenny: what? no Evan!? I know, right. At least my boy Kenny is here.
Paula: Always a contender. I love Paula.
Rachel: yikes. This is her first time on a challenge with Ev and I see sparks flying between these two.
Robin: a challenge vet, she 'just wants to know what it feels like to win.'
Ryan: he has surprised people in the past, can he do it again?
Tonya: I predict some Tonya-centric backstabbing and bickering this season, as usual.
Tyrie: the big teddy bear returns!

Are you as excited about this as I am? You better be! You can catch it Wednesday at 9pm or 10pm, and Thursday at 1am, 9:30am, or 7pm. Not to mention it will probably be up online at MTV.com

Casey and Max forever!

Okay, so first I was all about Casey and Cappie. Then, I switched to the Casey-Evan romance. They even had me last week a little with Casey and the hotness monster. But now, I am all about Max and Casey. You know, Max, that adorable, yet oddly mysterious RA. Of course, hot Max would show up just in time for the newly single Cappie to start thinking about Casey again as well as the very much not single Evan Chambers to start eyeing the girl who he would 'go off the map' for.

Here is what we 'know' about our resident hottie:

1. He is hot.
2. He dresses like he is going to 'climb a mountain.'
3. He isn't a great RA.
4. He stays in his room a lot, yet doesn't unpack his stuff out of boxes (hmm sounds like someone I know...).
5. He may or may not have worked for NASA.
6. He is super smart.
7. He knows how to count cards.
8. He is hot (what? It deserved to be on the list twice).

Seriously folks, what is he hiding? Any thoughts? Please share with me...

MTV wasted my Sunday

I just wasted two hours of my life watching the MTV VMAs. I knew they would be a waste of time anyway- I have homework and paperwork and cleaning and laundry to do- but I never guessed they would be as bad as they were.

Lowlights?
1. Britney Spears won THREE awards. Yep. Three. Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, and, the big one, Video of the Year. She beat out people like Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, the Jonas Brothers- WTF? Rigged.
2. Britney Spears did NOT perform. Technically, yes, she did 'open' the show, as they said she would. But coming on stage and saying, "Welcome to the VMAs," should not be publicized as her 'opening' the show. Tsk tsk MTV.
3. Rihanna's super creepy 'Disturbia' performance. I saw the video for the first time the other day and it scared the hell out of me. Check it out here. I am too frightened to post it here.
4. The host. Seriously? Someone in the room said, "Who is that guy?" And our only response was, "Exactly." I guess he was a character on Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but that movie wasn't even that popular. Weird choice. And there was a lot of political blabbering in his opening monologue I could have done without. Agree or disagree- this is the VMAs. Maybe I just don't like to piss people off.
5. Christina had a lumpy midsection/thigh/bottom area. I know she just had a kid, but no one forced her to wear those pants.
6. Lil Wayne likes black briefs obviously. Pull your pants up and put on a shirt.
7. Lots of crotch grabbing going on tonight. Strange.
8. Where was this show? It looked like they set up folding chairs in a parking lot.
9. Tokio Hotel is creepy (see picture as reference) and I never thought they would win. But their accents are funny.
10. I kept hearing all week how Katy Perry was performing. Um, what was that? They barely gave her a time slot. She just sang during commercial breaks.
11. I do not read the Twilight books, but if I did, I would be pissed because Edward Cullen didn't get to speak. Stupid host.
12. Word to Rihanna- if you are going to wear a cropped jacket with no bra underneath and unzip it mid performance, you had better own it. She stood there the whole time holding it together like she was totally uncomfortable.
13. Kanye's closing performance. Good. By far, better than anything else that night. Yet, still disappointing. And I love me some Kanye.

Highlights? Barely. But the Jonas Brothers were super cute.

thoughts on this week's Greek

Greek on ABC Family
Episode 2

My thoughts?

Frannie seemed more human than Casey for once... weird. I feel kind of bad for her, because it seems like Evan and her actually like each other and aren't just doing it to piss off Casey.

The hotness monster is hot. And funny. And a good actor. And I think that he doesn't even know who Ashley is and Casey should keep dating him. I know she says she won't, but I hope this isn't the last we see of the monster.

And finally, that RA is smokin'. Maybe it's just me because I like smart (i.e. maybe nerdy?) guys that may have once, or could possibly in the future, work for NASA. But I feel like something fishy is going on with him...

Either way, smokin'.

And fun fact- both of these guys (hotness monster and the RA, aka Drew and Max) starred in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2as Leo and Kostos.

Nanny Carrie is a psycho bitch.

Excuse my language, but seriously. That is all I can say about that episode.

Except that I am also so happy Lucas picked Peyton, but would like a little more explanation. I mean, he ignores her and denies her for like ever and then suddenly they are happy-go-lucky in love? That won't last.

And Brooke getting jumped at the end was not nice.

Between Nanny Carrie, Victoria, Nathan's hostility for his mom's new bf, Dan, and Brooke's jumper, there was a whole lotta evil in that one hour episode, wasn't there?

A New Era

Tonight on the CW, television history is being made- or is it? 90210, a spin off/reincarnation of the famed Beverly Hills 90210 is premiering. I have probably watched two episodes of the original in my whole little life, but am, for some reason, stoked for this remake. Will you be checking it out?

Fond Television Memories (vol. 1)

So today in my communications class they were talking about growing up wit television and the impact it has had on your life. Obviously, TV is VERY important to me and I got to thinking about all the great times I have had watching it. Naturally, I decided to share those stories on this blog...

There are many (I already have a huge list), but the one that came to mind first involves my Dad. It must have been because in the class, we were filling out these 'surveys' and one of the questions asked who has been most influential in your life. I answered my Dad. I honestly never thought I would say that, but the older I get, the more of a Daddy's girl I become. My Dad is polite, he works hard, he is independent, he is smart, and he is the funniest person I know. People respect him and people love him and I hope someday people feel that way about me.

Now, the story (which is actually very simple).

For some strange reason, I love Baywatch. Always have, always will. Growing up, I thought Pamela Anderson (aka CJ) was gorgeous and I wanted to look just like her. I have perfected the Baywatch jump over the waves and even own the Baywatch Barbie (which is named Summer, after Nicole Eggert). I just love the show. It wasn't until I got older that I realized it is kind of a joke show- girls running in swimsuits is the reason most people tune in. But I still love it- and my favorite Baywatch memory is my Dad teaching us to say 'hubba hubba.'

That's right. He would say, "Hey, what is she?" and we would say back, "Hubba, hubba." We still say it to this day...

Thanks for the memory Dad! And, of course, thank you Baywatch

DWTS Announced!

DWTS Season 7 cast was announced this week and, man oh man, what  lineup they've got this year!

Lance Bass (of N*Sync glory) with newcomer Lacey Schwimmer
Toni Braxton (she has a deep voice...) with season one champ Alec Mazo
Brooke Burke (model/once hosted Rank! on E!- what ever happened to that show?) with Derek Hough
Rocco Dispirito (cooking guy) with Karina
Maurice Greene (track SUPERstar) with Cheryl Burke
Kim Kardashian (large derriere) with Mark Ballas
Cloris Leachman (who I just saw on the Bob Sagat roast-hilarious!) with Mark's dad Corky Ballas- aw!
Cody Linley (Hannah Montana fame) with Julianne Hough
Susan Lucci with Tony Dovalani (sounds like a Jane Seymour repeat...)
Misty May Treanor (everyone's favorite sand volleyball player) with Maks (sooo hot.)
Ted McGinley with newbie Inna Brayer
Jeff Ross (who was also on the Bob Sagat roast...) with Edyta (poor girl)
Warren Sapp (football player) with Kym Johnson

My picks? Still deciding...

Go GREEK!

Here I am- back in the full swing of things at the first week of school. And what better way to celebrate the return to college life? With the premiere of Greek of course!

Watched it this morning (DVR is the most glorious invention, don't ya think?), and sadly, was a bit underwhelmed. I still love it and will still watch it, but thought it dragged a bit. I did cry a little though (I know, weird, it's this new thing that keeps happening to me) when Casey made the whole 'I found a family' speech to Rebecca. You could say my situation here at MU is similar (just a bit) to Casey's/Kappie's/Evan's, and I am noticing now more than ever how much I relate to them. Sounds sappy, but I was proud of most the characters this episode- Casey, Ashley, Kappie, Rusty, Dale, even Rebecca. Well done, kids.

Summer Hiatus

Much like many of my favorite shows... I am on hiatus for the summer months.

Aren't you glad I waited so long to tell you?

In the meantime, here is my advice to survive the rest of summer-
Watch new episodes of America's Best Dance Crew and Wipeout
Catch repeats of Rules of Engagement and How I Met Your Mother
That 70s Show is now on ABC Family (sweet).
Pop in that Lost DVD.
Go to watchdexteronline.net to catch up on seasons 1 and 2.

No worries, I should be posting again soon (real posts, not lame ones like this...).

DWTS dance by dance... part 1

So I can only watch the first hour because another beloved show is on at 8pm (damn you, Monday night TV), but here goes...

First of all, Samantha Harris- nice dress, but not right for this show.
Jason and Edyta's foxtrot:
omg Jason is so gorgeous. He dances so pretty, which sounds like an insult for a pro football player, but he just looks great. Great reaction from the judges...
scores: 9, 10, 9
Marissa and Tony's quickstep:
Glad she has her hair up. She looks like she is having so much fun. Really cute choreography. She missed a step, I guess, but good comments nonetheless.
scores: 9, 9, 8
Cristian and Cheryl's waltz:
What an ugly costume. First the feathers last week and now this space age 80's frock? Cheryl wins for worst wardrobe this season. Good dance, but I think he looked a little stressed.
scores:9, 9, 9
Kristi and Mark's tango:
Pretty costumes, prettier dance. The best part of these episodes is definitely Bruno yelling at Len though. Bruno and Carrie Ann loved it, Len, not so much.
scores: 10, 9, 10

Time to switch over to OTH. Stay tuned for my thoughts on the rest of the episode...

5.11.2008

Feeling under-whelmed? Try DH instead...

Sunday night TV just ended, and I am compelled to add my two cents...

"The kind of TV that will give you chills"? Really? I think the only chills I had were from my freezing cold basement. Anyone else feel a bit under-whelmed by the season finale of Brothers & Sisters? All of my promises were predictable- the outing of Saul, the corporate merger for Sarah/Tommy/Holly, the big kiss between you guessed it- Justin and Rebecca. The only 'shocker' was the reveal of Ryan- the real long, lost Walker child. Not that impressed. Plus, a big Walker get together without drunken shenanigans? Come one, people!

My only shocker- for some odd, odd reason I was almost rooting for Justin and Rebecca in that final scene. I found myself smiling instead of puking in my mouth (the response almost-incest usually should elicit). Weird.

I think that if you were looking for shocking television tonight, your better bet was to move over to Wisteria Lane. The ladies of Desperate Housewives were totally dishing it out tonight. Susan had her baby; Dylan isn't really Dylan; Kayla is seriously disturbed; and, could it be? Edie gets exiled for good! Now that was some good TV.

5.05.2008

I return to The Hills

I have kind of stopped watching The Hills because it is annoying and stresses me out, but tonight I was subconsciously looking for an excuse not to do homework (hence the blogging) and decided to watch it. Boy have things changed! Justin Bobby speaks. And he got a haircut and is hot. Heidi is working. Lo, Audrina, and Lauren move in together- kind of. And apparently Stephen was on it last week? What have I been missing. I might have to start watching this little 'reality' show again...

My OTH play-by-play

So here’s something new. I take notes while I watch a show, and then post them here. It ensures that I don’t miss anything- and makes me feel like I’m being productive while I watch TV.

Here is a play-by-play of tonight’s One Tree Hill, sprinkled with some direct quotes from my lovely friends who watch it with me.

-Opening Scene: Dan’s tombstone being lowered next to Keith’s, direct quote by my friend- ‘Is he kidding?’ Ha. I can’t believe it says ‘loving brother and father.’ They cannot put that next to Keith’s grave.
-Nathan is right- a ticking clock or not, Dan is still insane and should not be allowed near Jamie.
-Brucas is coming! Lucas comes over at 7am to go to the doctor with her? Come on!
-Haha Peyton comes out of her room in her PJs. I only wish she would have been wearing something hotter to make Luke love her…
--Commercial break--

-Yey for Mouth for getting on air time. Sweet.
-Haley says, “What if he really is dying?’ My friend says, ‘Darn…?’
-Okay, what was with that fake background at Dan’s house? Watch the episode and tell me that is not weird.
--Commercial break--

-First impressions- Brooke’s going to date the doctor.
-Someone please tell Millie that ‘Marvin’s’ name is Mouth.
-Hearing pregnancy rumors for Bethany Joy. True or False?
--Commercial break--

-Skills and Jamie are so cute playing video games. Scenes with those two are always my favorite.
-Ugh. Poor Mouth messing up on the air.
-‘I think my favorite character on the show is the little kid’ my friend says as Skills, Lucas, Nathan, and Jamie talk basketball strategy.
-‘Peyton, you’re so awkward’ my friend says when Peyton shows up in Lindsay’s office.
--Commercial break--

-‘No little kid says thiese things’ we say when Jamie talks to Q about his dad playing basketball again
- Um, why didn’t Brooke find someone else to watch the baby? She has a gazillion friends in tree hill…
-‘I’m in love with a girl’ by Gavin DeGraw for Q’s big return to the Ravens? Interesting choice.
--Commercial break--

- Just noticing: Q has really feminine features.
- Mouth’s teleprompter trick has me saying ‘awww’ and makes me wish I had some boy to thank me for believing in him.
-Oh that’s why they never show Mill and Mouth kissing- because it is awkward. Bummer.
-Jamie’s card to Dan is so cute… but he is too smart and too sweet for a five year old. And I cant believe Haley threw his card away! So sad.
-Lucas to Lindsay: Video chat?... Decline. haha
- Baby Angie finally smiles. Aww!

--Next week—
Whoa now. Hot previews. If that is even a dream ill be so pissed.

Mondays, Sundays, Thursdays...my week is a blur.

Thoughts on my fave shows from last week…

Greek: This show seriously keeps getting better and better! I haven’t written about it in a couple weeks (mainly because I can never watch it until the weekend), but it has been great! The last two weeks have been really great. I loved the flashbacks in the episode from two weeks ago. It seriously changed my opinion of the Cappie/Casey/Evan triangle. I have always been a Cappie lover, but after the last two weeks, I’ll admit it, I am rooting for Casey and Evan to get back together!

DWTS: So happy that Shannon Elizabeth got kicked off. Who’s next? Probably Marisa or Christian. And this week is the 100th episode two-night event- meaning that tomorrow a ton of DWTS alums will be back!

Gossip Girl: I’m having trouble getting back into it since the break… maybe I’m just sick of the same old stories- Chuck is a jerk, Blaire fights to keep her spot, Jenny wants to be cool, Serena did something one time and got in trouble… I’m bored.

Grey’s Anatomy: I was telling someone, “Yeah, this week’s episode was actually really good,” and their response was, “duh- Addison was back.” And that’s when it hit me. I haven’t really liked the show since she left. Here’s hoping Private Practice gets cancelled and she returns to Seattle Grace where she belongs. Favorite scene of the night- Mark’s reaction to seeing Derek, Addison, Rose, and Meredith all in the elevator. Oh, McSteamy, you make me laugh.
Lost: Loved this week’s episode. Actually, at first, I hated it. Kate and Jack’s future bliss made me sick. But then, you find out that Sawyer is still complicating things. Yes! The scene at the end totally made it for me. There is nothing Jack can do- it doesn’t matter that he is there now, or that he saved her- Kate loves Sawyer, and no matter where Sawyer is (or even if he is still alive), that won’t change. It almost made me feel sorry for Jack. Almost. And how ‘bout that scene when Jack picks up Kate in the hallway? Looks a lot like Sawyer picking her up in the cages if you ask me….

Brothers & Sisters: Awesome episode. I know next week is supposed to be amazing, so I cannot wait! My thoughts from last night- poor Saul, poor Rebecca, poor Justin, poor Sarah, poor Graham, and Holly is such a bitch taking over the company when it isn’t rightfully hers. Oh, and yeah for Scotty and Kevin! That scene was adorable!

Word on the street...

Brother and Sisters
This spring's season finale may be the best episode of the season. There's an outing, a wedding, an arrest, a big kiss, a corporate shakeup and a reveal that will leave one Walker in stunned. It has been called 'the kind of TV that will give you chills.'

Desperate Housewives
Mike needs to keep his mouth shut. He recently spilled that a few actors shot their final scenes already. Only the big four are safe.

Gossip Girl
So I missed Monday's episode...but, word is Blair and Chuck keep dancing around each other; Lily will walk down the aisle with Bart, even though things may not be finished with Rufus; Serena struggles and who comes to her aid? Dan? No- Nate, Chuck, and B; Little Eric van der Woodsen hooks up with Jenny's new BF (yes, that's boyfriend, not best friend)

One Tree Hill
Do we care that Dan is dying? How many times has he almost died? Seriously- we need a bigger shocker. How 'bout Leyton news? There may be a tiny glimmer of hope when Peyton reads Lucas' book. But what about Brucas? That little family picture looked nice didn't it...

Lost
Our super-sized finale features a supersecret Sawyer scene ('bout time! If he dies I will kill someone!). It is supposedly the 'game changer.' Also, Charlotte has an interesting scene coming up soon, so watch for that...

Grey's Anatomy
Meredith's bear-attack brain-tumor guy will bring her closer to Derek, as expected.

Want to see some bad dancing?

Watch this video of Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough. She is just terrible. Please kick her off tonight.

I know I usually post the best dance of the night, but that one was just terrible. Why is she still on the show? If she doesn't get kicked off tonight, something is wrong with America.

My top picks are definitely Mario, Kristi, and Jason- duh. I feel like we should just cut to the chase and have the finals already. I hope that Jason can pull out a win, because he is my fave! And Edyta has been on the show for-ev-er (seriously, the only pro to have danced on all six seasons). And I loved his NFL-themed paso doble! It reminded me of Joey and Kym's Star Wars dance, my favorite ever, back in Season 4. Go Jason!

4.24.2008

Unreal- these hour long episodes have got to go

I will be the first to say it- I hate the new Real World.

Not the cast, not the city, but this time, the whole show in general. These hour long episodes are killing it!

At first I guessed that MTV decided to make it a 13 week season just so they could cram more series' into their lineup. If a shorter Real World means more challenges, I'm game. But now I'm starting to think it was more like a lack of effort in the editing room, or a lack of story altogether, that made them go to the longer episode, shorter season formula.

Take last night's episode, for example. Major issues covered include, but are not limited to:
-Sarah fighting with her boyfriend
-Will trying to 'woo' Sarah
-Greg being isolated.. and then all of the sudden being their friend. What happened in between?
-Dave inviting a girl back, and the girls getting pissed off
-Sarah inviting a girl back, and the boys getting pissed off
-Kim and Dave cuddling (please hook up)
-Kim and Bri's blowout fight
-Joey and Bri's budding romance
-introduction to Joey's Hulk-like persona... and them him deciding he is 'over' the partying lifestyle

And that's just what I remember! Oh, and just to add my two cents- I have seen my fair share of 21st birthdays by now and I would say you probably could have made a whole episode out of Sarah's night...

The previews for next week already show the big Joey meltdown that is the centerpiece for their 'This season, on the Real World' ads. It is only week 3! What is going on for the next 10 weeks?

MTV had a formula that worked- for 20 seasons! Take seven kids, put them in a house in a new city, give them a job, let them hang out and do their thing without much interference, and BOOM! Hit TV series. You laugh, you cry, you wince at the drama. To all the haters out there- get over yourself- this was good television. Now, not so much.

4.23.2008

Dancing... into my heart!

If you would have asked me last week how I felt about this season of Dancing with the Stars, you wouldn't have received a very enthusiastic reply. I just wasn't feeling it.

Monday night, that all changed.

Finally! These guys were amazing! So what, their group dance sucks. So what, there hasn't been a perfect thirty yet. At least they are finally doing quality dances...

My fave of the night? Obviously, Kristi and Mark's jive. It reminded me of the jive he did with my favorite Cheetah girl Sabrina, but who cares! Check it out...

Seriously, that was just my absolute favorite. I wish I could have put more up but I just learned about this 'entire act' thing in comm law, so yeah...
And what about Derek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth shacking up? Kind of sick. Plus, I think they are milking it for votes.

4.22.2008

Gossip Girl returns- OMFG?

Pardon my French, but were was the 'F' in this episode?

For all their risque marketing, I didn't really think the episode was very scandalous. Jenny steals a dress to try and fit in with her rich friends? Saw that coming. Asking Nate for money and running away to his house? Weird, but not OMFG-worthy. And so what, Serena has a mean friend 'G' coming. Do I care? And Michelle Trachtenberg, really? The Ice Princess? Harriet the Spy? Not who I would have wanted.

Come on Gossip Girl! I miss all the scandals! The lies! The cheating! The romance! give me something!

4.20.2008

My fave family returns!

How much did you love having the Walkers back tonight?

Here are my highlights from tonight's Brothers & Sisters episode (in no particular order):
-the Walker children's shenanigans (group phone sessions, spreading secrets, hiding in the kitchen- with alcohol of course)
- Kitty and Robert's chemistry. They are so cute when they are happy! Too bad we know that won't last.
- the comment about Rebecca's bangs finally growing out. A clever shout out to all the bang-hating fans out there. Nicely done writers!
-Nora yelling at her kids. You go girl.
-Kitty telling Nora to stay and that she needed her. Tear.
- When Nora told Kitty that it feels like nothing ever happens, like for real, until she tells someone she loves about it. So true.

...and some lowlights:
-Sarah not signing the China agreement because she doesn't want business to affect her relationship. Saul is so right on this one- her relationship is affecting their business! As much as I want her and Grant to be together, I'm pretty sure he is using her.
-Rebecca and Justin. Stay away from each other. 'Nuff said.

Lost news from Carlton and Damon

So my favorite Lost creators Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof spilled some dish about the rest of this season…

Unfortunately, they aren’t disclosing any info on deaths this season. Usually, we would know, say, five people would die before the finale, or some hint like that, but not this year. I guess considering they already gave away the six people who make it off the island, they have a right to keep some secrets.

However, Carlton admits that “There are definitely some very large and seismic events that will happen to our castaways between now and the end of the season.”

They also admit big things for Claire- and she is the one I’ve been hearing all the death rumors about. Please don’t kill that innocent little Aussie. Jack needs a sister!

Here is some interesting thoughts on what I will just call the ‘flashes’ (time travel confuses me) from Damon:
“There is the story on the island, which we perceive to be the present, and then there’s the story of the Oceanic 6, which is happening off the island in the future. But if we were to switch perspectives at any time and suddenly we were off the island, focusing on the Oceanic 6 trying to get back, that would be the present, and what was happening back on the island would be either a parallel present, possibly a future, possibly a past. Who knows? So when you hear that whoosh noise, the question becomes ‘Where does it take you?”

Confused? Ah, the joys of Lost.

Also, in romance news-
Skaters and Jaters get ready- there is plenty more romantic drama for everyone’s favorite love triangle this season.
What about Jack and Juliet? Their relationship will be ’explored’ in the second episode back, May 1.
Also, the creators are eager to work with the ‘epic’ love story of our favorite constants- Penny and Desmond. Aww.

Remember when?
We will be learning more about Charles Widmore as the series progresses. Word is we will be seeing him ‘sooner, rather than later.’ Duh, duh, duuuh.
Also, remember that huge four-toed statue we saw on the coast way back when? The foot will return to the show and we will get some answers (which will probably lead to more questions…)

Desperate for viewers?

Desperate Housewives was new on Sunday? Really?

Yes, yes it is true. Although, being the avid fan I am, I knew it was a new episode (and if you've been reading this blog, as you should, you knew too), but many fans did not get the memo- apparently.

The Sunday 're-do', as I like to call it, hit a record low in viewership for any new DH episode. The show averages 18.9 million viewers, but last week only brought in about 16 million. Viewership was down an estimated 15 percent according to Nielson Media Research.

DH's James Denton (aka Mike the hot plumber who needs to get out of rehab ASAP) blames ABC's lack of promotion for their dwindeling numbers. While he admits that 16 million viewers is a 'victory', he doesn't think the network did a good job marketing the return.

I disagree. I saw a ton of commercials and ads online. I'll tell you what the problem is- people aren't watching TV anymore. Since the strike took away all of their favorite shows, they have just been watching less TV. Ratings are down for lots of shows, like American Idol, which I estimate is watched in every television in America, the World, the Universe, except mine. It used to be that you were getting your usual drama fix on Thursday night watching Grey's and then you'd catch a commercial for DH's new episode on Sunday, kindly reminding you to tune in. But people aren't being reminded! Someone remind them please!

Also, I think the chicas of Wisteria Lane are already struggling if the reports about some sort of time jump are true. Taking a hint from the once failing One Tree Hill folks? Now the Tree Hill gang is killing it this season with their four year jump, and there are rumors that DH is thinking of doing somehting similar. Sounds very desperate if you ask me.

Real World 20: Broken Dreams

First off, I cannot take credit for that clever title. Today on MTV, they were showing a 'pop up' version of last night's Real World 20: Hollywood premier, and boy, was that funny! Really added some humor to a rather serious season...

But really. These people are all like I want to be an actor, a journalist, a singer... after this show? Doubtful. Very doubtful. Actors, maybe. Will the producer, maybe. The 'entertainment' reporter, most definitely going to get a job on TV Guide Channel. But the girl who says she wants to be a broadcast journalist? Psh. Not after the Real World. And what kind of lunatic graduates from college, ASU no less, at age 20! She must be crazy.

What are the thoughts on 'pretyboy'? 'Prety' annoying if you ask me. Maybe it is just a front and he will break down and become like the nicest guy in the house or something. But again, doubtful.

I'm not diggin' the whole 13 one-hour episode deal. I like my 26 weeks of half-hour shows better, but what can ya do?

What do we think about this twentieth season? Still as good as it once was?

Another reason to hate Mondays

We all hate Mondays. That is pretty much a given. Back to school, back to class, back to meetings, no more fun. At least there is good TV though, right? RIGHT! Problem is- there is too much good TV on Mondays!

Greek (7pm, ABC Family)
Gossip Girl (7pm, CW)
One Tree Hill (8pm, CW)
The Hills (9pm, MTV)

Who wants to buy me TiVo?

Lost on the Web (6th edition)

I saw this on youtube, and it made me chuckle. Enjoy!

and 24 hours later...

So I just finished watching both seasons of Dexter. Yes, that's right, all 24 hours of it in less than one week. Sad, but true. Now, you may think I have my life back, but I don't. All I want is more Dex! Somebody help!

Thank you, seat42f. That was so weird. I just now went to search the web for some Dexter stuff to write about and, low and behold, seat42f had an interview with Doakes himself (aka Erik King) right on their main page. Check it out if you want, but it doesn't reveal much.

To get us all in the Dexter mood, check out the opening credits, which by the way, won an Emmy. Creepy? Yes. But awesome? Oh, yes.
Rumor has it, the new season starts in October, but can I wait that long? Of course not. So I checked in with some 'spoilers'.

I put that in quotes because these come from an interview way back before the strike ended, so really, they are just ideas from show writer Clyde Phillips. According to Phillips, in the third season, Dexter is coming into his 'adulthood' and taking his life in his own hands. We kind of saw a bit of that in the second season, what with his now broken relationship with his father. But will Dex still live by the code? I think so. We can also expect Dex's relationship with Rita to still be going strong. Thank god. Please leave the psycho English vampires out this time, would ya? Lila gives me the creeps! Check out more of his interview at E!Online.

October, huh? Long time away. In the meantime, one of my favorite places to go for a Dexter fix is Showtime's Wiki site. It is linked from the main Dexter page, and it is a site built completely by the fans! It has all kinds of stuff- comparisons between the books and the show, between the CBS and Showtime versions, quizzes, trivia, everything a Dexter fan could dream of!

But does it have enough content to keep me occupied for the next six months?

Get out your calendars!

Get ready for all your favorite shows to start flooding back, starting this week. Yipee!

Unfortunately, I don’t have the time to report to you on all of your faves, so I just do mine (haha, evil laugh). No really, if I could watch every show on TV, I probably would, but right now I have to focus on the select few. And I don't feel like waiving my spoiler flag, so I will try not to reveal anything huge, just hints as to what we can expect for the remainder of the seasons...

Desperate Housewives (returns THIS Sunday, April 13 at 8pm on ABC): Drugs in Gabrielle's house! Kayla causing trouble! Susan's 'studly' cousin Tim!
One Tree Hill (returns Monday, April 14 at 8pm on CW): A baby for Brooke? Love for Peyton and Lucas? Naley reunion? Wouldn't you like to know...

Real World (PREMIERES Wednesday, April 16 at 9pm on MTV): 20 seasons, can you believe it? To be honest, the previews for this season scare the hell out of me.

Brothers and Sisters (returns Sunday, April 20 at 9pm on ABC): DNA tests! Presidential primaries! Bachelor parties!

Gossip Girl (returns Monday, April 21 at 7pm on CW): Boy, it's been a long time since we checked in with the Upper East-siders.

Grey’s Anatomy (returns Thursday, April 24 at 8pm on ABC): What's new with Mere and Dere? Izzie and George? Do we care? Undecided.

Lost (returns Thursday, April 24 at 9pm on ABC- right after Grey's): A dead body in the first episode back! A 'spectacular' kiss in the finale! Oops, maybe that was too specific.

My friends are scared...

I am addicted to Dexter. I seriously cannot stop watching this show. Last week, I finally decided to start watching it online, and so far I have watched 17 episodes (count ‘em 17). That puts me at the sixth episode of season 2 (which I will probably watch tonight before I go to bed). In case you've never heard of it (which you probably haven’t), here is a rundown. I promise I will try not to ruin anything for you.

Basically, Dexter is a seriel killer. Wait- don’t stop reading yet. First of all, he only kills bad guys. Second, Michael C. Hall is good looking.

Dexter had something traumatizing happen to him when he was a kid, before he was adopted by Harry Morgan, a cop. Dex grew up learning Harry’s ‘code’ and hangin’ with his sister, Deb. Now they both work for the police department- Dex in forensics and Deb in homicide. In Dex’s free time, he finds murderers that were never convicted and kills them.

Now, I’m not making him out to be a superhero- Dexter isn’t doing this to be some sort of hero. He really does have a dark urge to kill. Harry taught him the ‘code’ to satisfy his urges and rid the world of bad guys all at once. Noble, huh? But there is just something about Dexter that makes you overlook the fact the he is a killer. Plus, it is a lot less gruesome than I thought it would be- nothing worse than I have seen on Grey’s.

You should really check it out. There have been just 24 episodes of this brilliant little show, with a third season coming sometime this year. It is on Showtime, but now you can’t use that as an excuse. The first season is playing on CBS on Sundays at 9pm, or you can watch it online. I like to use watchdexteronline.net.

Seriously, I know the show sounds weird, but you should give it a chance! The only thing that scares me is that by the end of the week, I probably won't have any new episodes to watch...

20 years in the making

Awards season. Tony's. Oscars's. Globe's. They've got nothing on this show- The Real World Awards Bash.
Believe it or not, this upcoming season (Hollywood) marks the 20th installment of the reality show that started it all. MTV brought back cast members from all 20 seasons for one big bash at a mansion in LA, and let me tell you, I was all grins the whole show. Seriously, I was so happy to see my old faves I couldn't stop smiling!

Real Worlders I love (by season, not by amount of love I feel for them):
Eric (NY), Syrus (Boston), Dan (Miami), Nate, David, Lindsey, Janet (Seattle), Tech, Ruthie (Hawaii), Danny (New Orleans), Mike, Coral, Lori, Malik (Back to NY), Alton (Las Vegas), Ace, Mallory (Paris), Robin, Jacquese, Brad, Cameran, Randy (San Diego), Landon, MJ (Philadelphia), Johanna (Austin), Johnny Bananas, Paula Walnuts, Zach, Svetlana (Key West), Colie (Denver), Isaac, Cohutta (Sydney)

Now, the main focus of the reunion was actually the Real World Awards. In my opinion, there was way too much love goin around for the recent seasons, both in the winners and the nominees (read a lot of Austin, Denver, icky). I prefer the oldies, but I guess the people that have been watching it as long (or longer) then me aren't voting in MTV online polls anymore. Go figure. Below, you shall find the name of the award, who actually won, and who I wish would have won.
Best Fight
Tyrie and Davis (Denver- set pictured)
Should have gone to Dan and Melissa (Miami) for the famous letter opening debate.
Best Brush with the Law
Robin (San Diego)
I agree, however they should have made it a joint award for her and Brad, who was arrested the same night.
Best Dance Off
Joanna (Austin)
While Joanna's drunken dance moves are entertaining, this one should have gone to Melissa (New Orleans) for her improv dance at the strip club.
 Best Meltdown
Brooke (Denver)
I think she wins by default since she was nominated twice in this category.
Best Phone Call Gone Bad
Jacquese and Robin (San Diego)
Good choice. My second choice would be Dummy Bear (Sydney), but I'm too afraid of him (pictured).
Biggest Playa
Colie (Denver)
This one could have easily been shared between Colie, Syrus (Boston), and Tech (Hawaii). They are playas after all.
Favorite Love Story
Danny and Melinda (Austin)
Puke. In. My. Mouth. They were not nominated, but I would have picked Rachel and Sean. They are happily married with a gazillion kids and another on the way!
Steamiest Scene
Steven, Trishelle, Brynn (Las Vegas)
This one only wins because the debauchery of Vegas changed the show forever, however, I think I remember some steamy hot tub or shower scenes from Miami that should have at least been nominated...
Roommate You Love to Hate
Coral (Back to NY)
I do love her.
Gone Baby Gone
Irene (Seattle) aka the 'Slap heard 'round the world' (pictured)
Hands down winner. Best exit in the history of Real World.
Hottest Female
Svetlana (Key West)
Nope. Mallory (Paris) is a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. She wins by default.
Hottest Male
Johnny Bananas (Key West)
While I appreciate a good banana (ha, clever), there were a lot of guys left off this list- Danny (New Orleans), Landon and MJ (Philedelphia), Ace (Paris), Nate (Seattle)... I could go on forever. Of the guys nominated- Alton (Las Vegas) or Eric (NY) deserved the title.
Favorite Season
Austin (set pictured)
Hands down, no way. This one sooo should have gone to Seattle. They have been, and probably always will be, my all time favorite season. And I don't even think they were nominated!

Back from break and ready for TV time!

Man, spring break was a killer for my blogs! Can you believe my resort did not have free wireless in the rooms?

Anyway, in the last couple of weeks things have been shuffled around quite a bit. We saw the midseason finales of my beloved One Tree Hill, LostAmerica’s Best Dance Crew, and the Gauntlet. On the other hand, we gained Dancing with the Stars, The Hills, Greek, and the one-time fave Gauntlet Reunion. Some thoughts-

America’s Best Dance Crew
Happy or not? I’m not. I was so rooting for Status Quo to win, but apparently I was the only one. Of all my friends who watch, they all wanted JabbaWockeez and gave me very puzzled looks when I said I liked my Quo boys better. Here is why-
Showmanship: While Jabba’s masks and gloves give cool illusions, I can’t see how much fun they are having out there, even though they probably are. When Status Quo dances they look like they are having so much fun, I really do want to get out there and dance too.
Stunts: I’ve seen Jabba do some break dancing, but nothing like the stunts Status Quo does. My thing is, yeah Jabba makes up cool dances, but if they taught those to Status Quo, they could do them too. But if Jabba had to do a human jump robe? I don’t think they could pull it off.
Oh well, now I’m just waiting for Season 2 and hopefully a Season 1 tour. What do you think Mr. Jackson?

Gauntlet III Finale and Reunion Show
Don’t even get me started on this one. Geez. I could write all day about this finale, but I will just say that I wish the Rookies had lost. The Vets should have ‘trimmed the fat’ and got rid of Eric in the beginning if they thought he would be such a hindrance in the final mission. Hindsight’s a bitch I guess.

As for the Reunion show? Brilliant. Why isn’t this show on all year long? For something that bothered me all season long, the couple’s news was probably the highlight of the enchanted evening with our favorite cast members.

Frank and Jillian living together. Brad and Tori spending a lot of time together. Derrick and Paula? Not so much. CT and Diem, according to Katie, are very ‘done’. Wes and Johanna split up as well. Danny and Melinda? They didn’t mention them, but I’m assuming they are together. When asked about Casey and Bananas, the cast just laughed. The best though? While Ev and Brooke are obviously not together, the host asked Ev about a rumor that Brooke was dating one of her ex-girlfriends, and Ev (looking very pissed off) said she didn’t want to talk about it. Ha!

Oh and Evan and Kenny? Still very much BFFs, and still very hot. Sad that they don’t talk to Big Easy any more, but still. Evan, if you are out there and reading this (unlikely), I am pretty sure if you met me we would fall in love. Just sayin’.

Dancing with the Stars
Already kicked off- the magician and the tennis player. I’m surprised at how well Priscilla and Christian are doing. My fave so far though? This deserves drum rolls and lights and lasers and smoke… Jason Taylor. Holy cow. He is hot. I know it is still early but I want him and Edyta to win.

The Hills
This season premiere stressed me out. Not following iteniary, wearing an expensive dress you didn’t pay for out the night before you are supposed to wear it, burning that dress and noticing it only an hour before you were supposed to wear it, then getting a second dress and wearing it on a motorcycle?! Someone please stop her!

And here is why I am confused. Lauren was in Paris for like a week. Seriously, one week, and Brody has a new ‘girlfriend’. That was fast? But wait- does he even have a girlfriend? I don’t think so. Last night, he was psyched to see Lauren and she was a total bitch. I think the girlfriend thing is a misunderstanding.

Also, as much as I have been anti-Spencer, can these two please just get back together? They were less annoying as a couple than they are apart.

Greek
Finally! I love this show and am so happy it is back! I missed the season premiere and my internet is so slow I can’t even stand to try and watch it, but I had a friend fill me in before last night’s episode.

Does anyone else notice how good everyone on the show looks? Last night, Casey was like
glowing in that teal dress. And Cappie did something with his hair. Or maybe lost weight. I don’t know. And Evan? Wow, he looks hot. They must have given everyone makeovers or something.

In couples news, Jen K. should not have broke Rusty’s heart like that. I love Rusty. Also, Cappie needs to dump Rebecca and go for Casey. I was hoping for a hook up last night, but will have to wait. Next week perhaps?

Lost on... my camera (5th edition)

So, I spent Spring Break in lovely Orlando, Florida, and made a day trip to the magical world that is Disney. I was on a bus, excuse me, a motor coach, headed over to Animal Kingdom from Epcot and it was so crowded I had to stand. I looked up and there, right in front of me was an ad for my all time fave- Lost! I had to take a picture, and was eager to show it. Enjoy.

Now, it has been over a week since the mid season finale, and I’m still sad that Danielle got shot. Seriously. She lived on that island just fine and dandy and 17 years, then Jack and all the other Flight 815-ers come along and kill her. Well, maybe they did not literally kill her (or maybe they did?!), but their actions led to her death. Sucks for her.

And poor Karl. Why did he have to die too. Luckily, Blake Bashoff did stop by E! and spill this to Kristin-

Watching the episode last night, I did notice that [something that we shot wasn't shown]. On the day we filmed it, the people who were shooting at us, there was actually a great shot of the snipers emerging through the jungle in these incredible, elaborate, jungle camouflage uniforms. And I don't know if you got a sense of that last night or not—I think you just saw movement in the trees.”

Hmm.. what is to come on Lost? Stay tuned. The new episode airs April 24th.

3.18.2008

Can I be someone's comet?

Since I knew practically everything that was going to happen tonight, the episode wasn't that shocking for me. One question though, can I please be someone's comet? That was such an adorable concept that all came together in the end. Geez, Lindsey, of course he was talking about Peyton! Duh.

Things that made the room full of girls I was watching it with freak out:
-Nathan and Haley's 'kiss'
-Dan's creepy whistling
-Nanny Carrie "My son is the ring bearer". Psycho.
-Skills and crew tailgating at the wedding
-Peyton stopping the wedding. Oh no, wait. That was another dream.
-Lindsey waling out on Lucas
-Haley blaming Nathan for Jaime's disappearance
-Haley finally blaming herself (Yeah, you should have let Nathan come back and protect his son!)
-Dan attacking Carrie
-the adorableness that is Jaime. I believe this quote sums it up- "I am going to print out his picture and put it on my wall. Take down David Beckham and put him up instead."

3.17.2008

To hitch or not to hitch?

That is the question.

Unhitched is a new comedy from the Farrelly Brothers (the ‘geniuses’ who brought us Dumb and Dumber and There's Something About Mary) that airs on Fox (Sunday, 8:30 central). The show is basically about four ‘unhitched’ friends, in what appears to be their early thirties (that’s just my guess, it’s not scientific).

I watched the pilot of this show online a last week, and have to be honest- I was not impressed. I would love to add more comedies to my long list of faves, but this one just wasn’t it. There are a ton of other comedies (for example, Back to You, The Office, 30 Rock, etc.) that I have only seen one episode of and was entertained. With a comedy, that’s all it should take- one half hour of pure joy and laughter.

Verdict: I’m not hitching up to Unhitched (sorry that was lame, but who are we kidding, so am I).

3.16.2008

Man, her lip gloss is POPPIN' tonight.

I am a sucker for this show. The judges are annoying. The host's pants are too tight. But the dancing is great. I will put up with all that other stuff just to watch the three minute dance routines.

And it is getting down to the wire. Last week, BreakSk8, the roller skating guys from Indiana, the only team still repping the Midwest (woot, woot), got voted off. Bummer. Check out their seriously sick 'Beat It' routine from the week before.

Sweet headstand. It is true though, compared to the final three teams left, BreakSk8 just isn't as strong. Farewell my friends. You have repped the Midwest, and roller skaters everywhere well.

So who's left? We got Kaba Modern, the Asian group with the only three girls left in the competition; JabbaWockeez, the guys with the masks, gloves, and ticking; and Status Quo, the real hip hoppers and my pick to win it all. These guys just look like they are having fun out there. And in the sprit of togetherness, last week the final four teams started the show off with an adorable little dance to Annie's 'Hard Knock Life'. This makes me happy.

Check out this recap show below. I don't think you need to watch the whole thing though, just the intro dance and then Status quo, who is the first team to perform.

Who do you think should be named 'America's Best Dance Crew'? Comment below...

and the academy award goes to...

Thank you Evan, for supplying that marvelous quote about Danny’s over-the-top dramatics. He is so annoying. I hope he goes home, and I think he will (just a guess of course).

Speaking of guesses, anyone notice how they totally gave away who surprisingly made it to the final mission for the vets? I’m guessing we either have a twist coming up or someone gets that puzzle game for the Gauntlet…

Also, props to the rest of the crew for finally figuring out that CT is a joke. It’s about time…

Check out Evan impersonating him in an exclusive clip from MTV.com.
